Supermarkets

Although we list supermarket products we understand the ethical reason why some vegans boycott supermarkets. However it is not our job to act as the vegan police and we leave it to individuals to shop or not in supermarkets.

Please be aware that some if not all of the supermarkets coat some of their fresh fruit in Shellac. We are currently contacting all them to find out which are and will update the site when we find out. So far we have had a negative response. The best way to find out if a company coat their fruit or not is the scratch the surface and see if it feels waxy or not. Waxy usually means it is coated.

Asda confirmed that their oranges, apples and lemons are waxed.
